Meet Kenya

Kenya, a DC native, believes that our mental health is as important as our physical health, so we should put as much care as we put into our bodies into our minds. They use a holistic lens when evaluating dilemmas, knowing that every person is unique, and deserves treatment that is personalized and collaboratively created. Within sessions, multiple theories of practice will be utilized, from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) that involves understanding how one’s thoughts, beliefs, and experiences can affect their behaviors, to elements of Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), that focuses on how to become more flexible and present in our everyday lives.

Kenya also pulls from the theory of Social Constructivism, which examines how interactions within our social relationships (i.e. family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, community) shape our knowledge and view of the world around us. This also includes how our identities, cultural background, and social system affect how we move throughout our lives.

Along with processing day to day events, psychoeducation, and skill building will be prioritized in sessions. Even when we aren’t aware of it, we bring past elements or parts of ourselves into the interactions we have with others. The more we understand the depth of these experiences and our responses to them, the better decisions we can make that align with our true selves.

Kenya graduated in 2020 from Temple University with a BS in Neuroscience and a BA in Psychology. They are a 2024 graduate of Johns Hopkins University with their MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
